Mr.Ali Akber Advocate.
Lucknow : December 18, 2006 The U.P. Chief Minister, Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav today described those as 'enemy of the country' who suspected Indian Muslims. He was speaking on rights of the minority at a conference organised by the all-India Tahaffuze Madaris Council here. Mr. Yadav made five announcements on the occasion, while focusing on the need for making members of the minority community aware of their rights. He said we wanted to bridge the gap among the people on the basis of religion and reduce differences between them. He said we never wanted to treat Muslims as second grade citizens and we had never been opposed to anyone on the basis of caste and religion. We always wanted to bestow favors on those who had been left behind in the race for progress. The Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs. Two crore for construction of a new building of Arabic-Persian Madarsa Board, bringing 100 madarsas of Alia level on the government-aided list, sanction of 34 posts in the Madarsa Talimi Board, up-gradation of 160 Madarsas in the State and opening of mini ITIs in them, besides starting of the Mid-day-meal scheme for students up to Tahtaniaan level. Mr. Yadav said the percentage of Muslims in recruitments made in the U.P. Police and P.A.C. during his tenure rose to 14. He said no other State had done so as yet. He said 27 per cent Muslims had been recruited in the Shanti Suraksha Bal. While appreciating Mohammad Azam Khan as an ideal colleague, Mr. Yadav said that Mr. Azam was the most honest leader who always wanted the betterment and welfare of the Muslims. On this occasion the Chief Minister also dedicated to the people the website www.babulilm.in for encouraging the feelings of nationalism and secularism in minority educational institutions. The Chief Minister was honoured by Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Award by the special guest Urban Development Minister, Mohd. Azam Khan. The C.M. was also presented a citation letter by Chairman U.P. Madarsa Board Maulana Khalil Akhtar Asharfi. Earlier, the Urban Development Minister, Mohd. Azam Khan in his touching speech said that those parties which had done injustice and disrespect of the Muslims during the past 59 years were now showing sympathy with them. He said that the Sachchar Committee report, which was being projected as favourable to the Muslims, would pose difficulties for the Muslims instead of providing any special opportunities. Mr. Khan said that the country could not be run on the basis of politicking and people cannot be taken as mere vote- banks. He said that if any one could prove that any of the madarsa of khankaah was I.S.I. base then we would like to die of shame. The Urban Development Minister said that Mulayam Singh Yadav made the Waqf shops free from rent control, which no one could do earlier. He said that the Chief Minister took some very bold decisions, which other could not dare to take. Urdu language was accorded the status of second language. The intermediate passed girls were being given Rs. 20,000 under Kanya Vidya Dhan Yojna and this facility was extended to girls studying in madarsas. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Mohd. Ashraf Sajjada Nasheen Kachhochhvi , Mufti Badre Alam Ashrafia Mubarakpur Azamgarh, Syed Arabi Miyan, Shri Ataur Rehman MLA and Chairman Minorities Welfare Board U.P. and Dr. Hafeezur Rehman of J.N.U., Delhi conducted the programme. 0091-9415020786
