Jammu, June 2: Terming the poetry of Mirza Assadullah Khan Ghalib, as ‘spiritual dance in the endless desert of life’, Kunwar Rajinder Singh Rana, a Doda based-writer in the preface of his book ‘Dewaan-e-Ghalib –Urdu-Hindi-English translation’ has said that there is a happy blend of though and emotion in Ghalib’s poetry.
It was Ghlaib who himself has said that ‘Hain Aur Bhi Dunia Main Sukhanvar Bahut Achee- Kahtee Hain Khe Ghalib Ka Hai Andaz-e-Bayan Aur. In the similar way, there are many writers who wrote on Ghalib but the contribution of Rana is unique like the couplet of Mirza Ghlaib.
The book which was released here today by Education Minister Harsh Dev Singh in an impressive gathering is worth reading and it is hardbound with an attractive jacket. The book contains 69 popular Ghazals written in original Persian script along with Devnagri script and English rendering by Rajinder Singh Rana.
The eminent journalists, writers, poets, critics, bureaucrats and thinkers of the state, attended the function. Aseer Kishtwari known for authoring ‘History of Doda’ beside other books, carried out the proceeding of the programme. A veteran translator, RK Bharti read paper on the book that highlighted various features of the book.
In his presidential address, Harsh Dev Singh, education minister lauded Rana for his contribution towards literature. He said that Rana being a retired government officer had translated the message of great poet in his book which could benefit the people who could not understand Urdu language. Singh said that J&K state has need of such literate people and hoped that Rana would continue his mission in the field of literature.
In his address, an eminent writer, Professor Zahur-ud-Din said that Rana also go through the poetry of other great poets of Urdu. Inspiring Rana to translate the poetry of Dr Sir Muhammad Iqbal, Prof Zahur said that they are hopeful with Rana to write about this great poet also.
The author of the book, Kunwar Rajinder Singh Rana in his address said that Ghalib in his Ghazals has given expression to the feelings which are the common heritage of mankind. ‘He loved humanity and cherished liberty, he explains by independence of mind and liberal opposition, he rebelled against conventional behavior and welcomed new ideas”, Rana highlighted the Ghalib’s theme in his poetry.
Rana said that if Ghalib himself has said that he has unique style of writing but in another couplet ‘Rekhtee Ke Tum Hi Ustaad Nahin Ho Ghalib-Kehtee Hain Aglee Zamanee Main Koi Mir Bhi Tha’, Ghalib has shown his respect to Mir Taqi Mir, the father of Ghazals.
